The Eleftherios Venizelos Museum of Remembrance is just a few meters from the Cretan Traditional Folkloric Museum. It was founded in 1996 and is the fourth museum of the St. George Museum complex.
In a restored stone-built building, the visitor can admire the elaborate exterior decoration of the building along with the stunning views of the plain of the Lassithi Plateau.
The interior of the building hosts an important collection of personal items that mark the course of the Greek politician from his birth, his appointment as a Prime Minister to his death: rich photographic material and historical documents, handwritten letters and postcards with stamps, newspaper clippings and books, official documents and personal items that relate to the life and work of Eleftherios Venizelos. Paintings, woven in its form, gold and silver medals as well as its golden glasses create a set that brings to life the memory of the great Cretan Nationalist.
